Our Role
Cheshire Architectural Aluminium were appointed to design, supply, and install the
complete external façade package, combining Technal’s high-performance aluminium
glazing systems with precision-engineered aluminium rainscreen cladding.
Working closely with Watkin Jones and their façade consultants, CAA coordinated
the design, manufacture, and installation across multiple blocks — each with distinct façade
types and performance criteria.
The majority of the façade utilised Technal DF75 Si windows and Elegance 52 curtain
walling, chosen for their proven performance, buildability, and refined architectural
detailing.
To maintain programme momentum on this large-scale, multi-block site, CAA strategically
dual-sourced a number of elements using SAS Pure systems, ensuring seamless visual
consistency while achieving delivery targets across all phases.

Key Challenges
• Mixed façade typologies: Integration of multiple systems while maintaining a unified
architectural expression.
• Urban performance: Acoustic, thermal, and fire compliance to meet Build to Rent
standards within a city-centre environment.
• Programme delivery: Dual sourcing of materials and systems to meet Watkin Jones’
fast-track schedule without compromising quality or compliance.

Outcome
CAA’s £7 million façade package delivers a refined, high-performance building envelope
centred on Technal’s proven DF75 Si and Elegance 52 systems, complemented by SAS
Pure to maintain programme delivery.
The result is a cohesive, modern façade that combines architectural quality, compliance,
and build efficiency — a showcase of CAA’s capability in delivering complex, multi-system
façades to the highest standards of performance and precision.
Sherlock Quarter now stands as one of Birmingham’s defining Build to Rent landmarks, and
a testament to CAA’s trusted partnership with both Technal and Watkin Jones in delivering
large-scale, technically advanced façade packages.
