Project overview
Signal Box Yard is Watkin Jones’ landmark Build to Rent scheme in Bath, delivering over 300 new homes and ground-floor commercial units on the historic Lower Bristol Road. Forward funded at c.£100m, the project demanded a high-quality façade solution to match its prime location in a UNESCO World Heritage city.

Our role
Cheshire Architectural Aluminium delivered the full aluminium window and curtain wall package, working from design through to installation. The scope covered hundreds of apartments plus double-height commercial frontages, ensuring consistency across multiple blocks while maintaining slim sightlines and robust performance.

Key challenges
Heritage setting: slim, clean lines to complement Bath’s masonry architecture.
Noise & comfort: acoustic glazing and safe ventilation to suit a busy urban corridor.
Programme: just-in-time deliveries and rapid stick-built curtain wall kept the project on track.

Outcome
CAA’s package provided a crisp, coherent façade language that balances performance, aesthetics and buildability. The result is a landmark BTR development that is already transforming this part of Bath, with apartments now leasing under the Signal Box Yard brand.
